Hey ya'll...just wanted to throw this out there, see if anyone has been in my situation. I'm going to cancel my verizon contract early ($140 termination fee) and go get an iPhone, but I want to port my verizon number to the new iPhone. Does anyone know how this process works? Do I call verizon and cancel my contract 10 minutes before, and then go to an apple store and say "hey, I want a new iphone and here use this number?" Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go to the Apple Store/AT&T store and get your new phone before you cancel with Verizon. They'll port the number on the spot, and you can cancel your Verizon contract after that.

Almost correct... As the AT&T FAQs indicate, you need do nothing with your Verizon account. The contract for the line(s) ported is cancelled automatically and Verizon will mail you your final bill.

As said, when you signup for AT&T and get your number transfered over your Verizon account is automatically canceled and they will send your bill with the ETF, etc.

Thank you all for your fast responses. I really appreciate it. Heading over to Apple Store now, wish me luck. :)

Would this work the same if my contract with verizon had already ended?
