Got in my order last night for 7-10 days.

If I swing by my carrier and they have some in stock, how hard is it to cancel my online order? (Since I'll need to free up my upgrade)

Right now it still says "processing order".

Thanks for any insight.

When you clicked "accept," you entered into a legally binding contract to purchase iPhone. It is a violation to cancel, only to go in store and buy same thing.

ok, this is not true. You can still cancel your order. There will be a time lapse for when your upgrade will show available again. I do not know how long it will take, but I think you are quoted up to 48 hours when you cancel.

You can cancel the order, provided it hasn't been shipped yet.

Yeah, the time it takes to free up the upgrade is my concern.

Then please explain why the largest thing I can click on my order status, is a big blue button that says cancel order?

You can't cancel until the order gets to 'Processing' status (usually not too long), and then up until it goes to being prepared for shipping.

I placed orders with Apple and T-Mobile this morning. Once I saw the T-Mobile order would be shipping days earlier it was very easy to cancel the Apple order.

one of the few places that is hard to cancel from is the google play store. If you click buy you better mean it!

Last year when people ordered and cancelled online, it took up to 24 hours and in some cases longer.

Thanks for the insight.

I guess I'll have to wait like a kid on December 17th...Santa is right around the corner!

LOL wow. Was there another marathon of Law and Order on TV?
You can cancel your order at any time until the order is set for shipping. This goes for pretty much any order you make online. Once they pull the order and begin the shipping process in the warehouse, orders aren't generally allowed to be cancelled. You can review order cancellation policies online a lot of the time.

You may want to read up on online ordering and contracts.

That's right. After picking up a 5s this morning I cancelled my online order (yes, I ordered as well as queuing) and I had no issues.

Were you using an upgrade? If so, didn't you already "use" your upgrade availability when you purchased it online?

Canceled my Apple order online for my wife's "October" white/silver 16GB AT&T 5s when I found it available in my local Apple store. I logged in with one of the stores demo iMac's cancelled my order and it took no more than 5 minutes for my upgrade to be available. They say it may take a day or up to 2, but for me it was almost instant.

I was about to say "because sarcasm" but from looking at Velin's other posts that doesn't seem to be the case.
