How about late 2018 release? Wouldn't it be possible? Apple used to release mid, early and late macbooks. Will HBM2 GPU and cannon lake processors be ready by then?

What if someone decides to go with current 2018 models? (Does current MBP look bad compared to what is coming late this year or next year? - Are cannon lake processors expected to bring big boost in performance? Will lpddr4 deliver a decent boost? How about HBM2 GPU vs the 560x?)

There won't be any cannon lake MacBook Pros, simply because cannon lake is a low-tier dual-core CPU. I'd expect cannon-lake based MacBook (as MBA replacement) this fall though. Next year then Ice Lake + new GPU.

You're asking if Apple will release new computers with 3 components that are not even released yet in the next 5 months? They usually release computers months after the components are released, not months before.

Looks like you asked the same thing on Saturday and every answer to your thread was a negative one. Don't waste your time on this, if by some miracle it happens, no one here would know about it in advance.

The next CPU will be a revision not a 10nm new arch. You'll be looking at 2020 for that...possibly around a MBP redesign window.

Possible, of course. Probable, highly unlikely.

Apple caught hell from its customers when they rolled out the iPad 4 right after the iPad 3. People are spending nearly 3k, and they don't want to buy a machine that isn't Apple's best product for that year.

Also what will Apple gain with a late 2018 release of a new model? They'll get lots of negativity, and not a lot of positive feedback and its really late 2018, they'll not fully tap the holiday season. I just see this as a lose-lose situation.

We won't see an update this year. At least I hope we don't, my opinion of Apple would really be low if they did.

I think 2019 we will see a new chassis. One slightly bigger to handle the newer 8th and possibly 9th gen Intel CPU's as well as higher TDP graphics cards (we can only hope! lol).

2019 might have a few upgrades worth waiting for:

Newer PCIe specs, which might be what the thunderbolt 4 update is waiting for.
Newer processors from AMD and Intel
Newer graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia (seems like their focus now is lowering TDP while keeping performance)

Very unlikely this year especially when we have seen some of the biggest updates in recent mbp history w/o altering its design. I'm hopeful for lpddr4(x) for 2019 and next year should mark the best mbp line-ups for current design before an imminent redesign is inbound for 2020. Lpddr4x brings some significant power savings w.r.t. standard ddr4 even more so than lpddr4 which alone is worth waiting for imo. I think I read somewhere that someone wants to see hbm gpu in mbps but I'm not sure about that. Gpus for mbps have never been its strong suit but if it does indeed happen, it's a good thing. I'm more looking forward to face id and 120hz displays.

Do you even know what Cannon Lake actually is?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon_Lake_(microarchitecture)

Does that sound like anything that will ever be used in a Macbook Pro?
