Cannot access pictures in finder after upgrade

I need a code and will pay for it.:apple:

When I open iPhoto, all of my pictures are there, and I can access them no problem. However, when I try to access them through the finder--as in when I am trying to upload or attach a photo--iphoto library is greyed out and I cannot get them.

Any help??????

Am I just going to have to open iPhoto every time I want to upload a photo?
