I own a late-2008 MBP running OSX 10.6.8. More and more, I've been finding popular websites that I cannot access using any of my browsers: Chrome, Safari or Firefox. Examples include www.staples.com, www.maxim.com, www.benjerry.com and www.verizon.com. Verizon FiOS is my cable and internet provider and trying to log on to that site always redirects to www22.verizon.com but does not connect.
I tried to fix the problem on my own about a week ago by searching for troubleshooting tips. In following them, I cleared out some information written in the "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains" field of the proxy settings in the "Advanced" menu of the Network settings. Unfortunately, I did not save this information elsewhere to re-enter if that didn't work. Again, this problem was already occurring before I deleted that information.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give to resolve this issue. I'm not well versed in computers. I'm not an amateur either but step-by-step directions would be helpful. Right now, the only thing checked in the "Proxies" tab is "Use Passive FTP mode (PASV)" and I'm using the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 DNS Servers.
Thanks!
