I am using a June 2008 Macbook with 2gb ram and OSX 10.6.2 and today have started having network issues.

After turning the mac on i got the normal grey screen with the apple but a progress bar at the bottom, i let it do its thing. When OSX booted (15 minutes later) however i had no internet connection yet had aquired an ip address and could be pinged by other computers on the network. The internet was also working fine on my windows partition

After restarting, the progress bar was still there and it was still taking 15 minutes to boot so i made a time machine backup and took it to the genius bar. They told me that it was a harddrive fault and that formatting it and restoring from the time machine would fix it. This did fix the progress bar problem but i am still not able to connect to the internet.

Ive discovered that its a dns issue as i can connect to websites by using their full IP address. I'm not receiving any DNS settings from the dhcp of all 4 routers in my house and when i try to enter them manually i click apply and when i go back into the dialog any changes i have made have returned to as they were before. This goes for any changes i make to any network settings for all devices (airport, ethernet etc). The dialog was unlocked.

I'm totally at a loss with this problem.

tl;dr Every change i make in the network dialog just returns to as it was before when i click apply.
