HI, I have a macbook pro 13" from mid 2009 running mountain lion. I bought a Belkin mini display to HDMI cable to connect the computer directly to my HD TV which is a Panasonic Viera TX L37D25B HDTV.

It doesnt have any adaptors. One end plugs into the mini display port, the other end plugs into the HDMI socket on the tv. When I plug it in the screen on the macbook screen flashes blue and then the desktop returns but the screen on the tv is blank.

I have looked in system preferences, and there is nothing in the display window. There is no detect display option.

I have looked through the tv manual and cant find an explanation or how to make this work. I previously tried to do this with a cheaper cable bought from Amazon and it failed so I assumed it was a faulty cable, hence buying the more expensive one from the Apple store.

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

"If your video isn't working correctly: Navigate into System Preferences>Displays and click on Detect Displays. You can then choose the "mirroring" option and your computer screen should now be displayed on your TV. If you have any other problems, please let me know."
