I have a 4S jailbroken on 5.0.1 software. Everytime I go into itunes and go to "update section" it tells me "Cannot connect to iTunes store." When I go to the other sections these are the screens that I see:

then it quickly goes away and turns into this:

I have no idea how to fix this and I've spend quite a lot of time researching this. So far, I have reset the network setting, all the settings, signed out from itunes store, tried the ibooks trick, pretty much anything that is on google and nothing is working.

This started this morning, the only thing that I did since yesterday is - http://www.ifans.com/forums/threads/how-to-spoof-ios-5-0-1-to-look-like-5-1.372083/. I did the above steps (using iFile I changed the plist files). The reason why I did it is because one of the apps that I had installed was showing that an update was necessary, but available only on 5.1 software and above. Me being OCD, I couldn't stand to see the little "1" on the appstore icon so I googled for advise.

I tried editing the plist back to 5.0.1 but no result.

Somebody, anybody, please help

Thanks in advance

This will sound weird, but I don't know if its something that I did, but its working now. There's only one problem know - in settings - under iCloud, I don't see any settings other than "Find iPhone". I tried deleting the account and adding it, but nothing.

I'm guessing your plist edit caused this.
if the little red "1"bothered you that much, you should have just used a Cydia hack to hide it.

Which Cydia hack would that be?

I did install a Cydia hack to hide the software update notification a few months back.

There are a bunch to choose from.
Some hide all red badges, some just hide the AppStore badge (like No AppStore badges)

Google and I'm sure you can find a selection to choose from.
