Cannot connect to shared PC

Using a MBP with wireless, and 10.5.3... Never had this problem before, but now I can see my shared PCs but cannot connect to them. When i click them, it simply says "Connecting..." at the top forever. After a restart, it works fine again.

I have only noticed this problem after opening video files from the shared PC in VLC. Viewing the shared files works fine at first, but after a day or two, the connection to the shared PCs is lost, and nothing works but a restart of the system.

Any ideas for a fix?
