Cannot connect to the App store

I just bought an iphone 4 for my wife. After noticing that her phone wouldn't connect to the app store nor update any of her apps under my itunes account, i went and made her an account. it still doesn't work... help

Try rebooting the phone?
Are you trying to connect over wifi or 3G?

Do other internet apps work?
