Cannot continue search on server with gmail/exchange?

Hi all --

I have both a gmail and exchange account set up on my new black 32gb 3GS and they seem to be working normally except that I don't have the option to server search.

I can do a normal local email search, but the option to Continue the search on the server simply does not appear. I've done the same thing on my brother's 3GS and seen the option, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing the right thing - has anyone else seen this?

It seems like it should be working for the exchange account, but as for the google account, Apple says it will work for "some" other accounts, I'm going to guess gmail isn't one of the "some."
