I get this error (-36) whenever I try to copy my documents folder to my memory stick. I know there is plenty of room for my folder, and it copies fine when I format my memory stick to Mac format.

Unfortunately, I do have a PC I want to transfer some data to, and having two partitions (mac and pc) is annoying. Any ideas on how to cure this error -36?

Maybe you should upgrade to 10.6.3? One of the fixes is...
  • an issue in which the Finder reports a -36 error when copying directories to a drive formatted as FAT32.

Excellent. I'm upgrading now.

This error also happens if you corrupt the drive by removing it without disconnecting it....had the same thing happen to my memory stick on my DROID.

Worked with Motorola for 3 hours one day to finally arrive at this position.
