Cannot delete mail from inbox

I've suddenly gotten some strange email behavior in in my inbox. When I delete a message it moves it to deleted items (trash), but it reappear in my inbox at the same time telling me I can't delete it since it's already in my trash.

I have my mail accounts set up as POP and it removes it from the server when downloaded. It doesn't happen with every mail, but some (mainly newsletters).

CTRL+ALT+delete seems to work, but has not been necessary before.

Any ideas why this happens?
