Hello,

I have recently found an annoying problem with my iphone.

I have sorted through all my music, and found that when removing songs from my iphone via iTunes sync, it still leaves them on the iphone ?

So ... I then went to the sync menu in iTunes, under my iphone, and unchecked the sync music box ALTOGETHER ...

this should mean this is NO music on my phone at all, a warning even comes up an says "this will remove all songs on your device" .... and I agree an say yes please ... !

BUT ...
I then open up the music app on my iphone, and this single purchased song still exists in my music app on my iphone...

bizarre, very very bizarre ...

I even go to the settings menu in iphone, music settings, and uncheck the show all music from icloud purchases ... but still no joy ...

this worked for me!

Hi stuartrozier - I thought I was the only one with the problem of not being able to delete one purchased song!
(Ed Sheeran, originally an iTunes Festival free download)

Firstly, to delete it from the iPhone, go to Settings, General, Usage.
Tap Music, then swipe All Music to the left, and Delete.
That deleted it, but every time I synced to the Mac, it returned.

Next, on iTunes on your Mac or PC, go into Preferences, and click the Advanced tab.
I reset the folder location (without changing it), reset Warnings, and reset Cache, and that did it!

(after syncing music again to the phone)

Hope it helps :)

it worked !

it worked ... I didn't have to use the second action ( preferences in iTunes ) ... I tried the first action, an then cheked it, an it worked ... much appreciated -

how did you even find out that deleting the usage history would erase a song ?

or is the song not technically even their ?

Stuart

That's great Stuart,

The Thanks for deleting the Usage history goes to someone on another forum (maybe Apple discussions) and whom I thanked last night after spending quite a while looking for that solution :)
( Sorry I cannot find your name, but much appreciated )

I came across this thread while looking again to post my solution to the song reappearing after syncing to iTunes.

Thanks all,
Ciarán.

(could iTunes be hanging on to some reference to a previously downloaded, and later deleted song, and syncing it to the device) ???
