I wasn't sure where to put this exactly. But I just discovered tonight that it's impossible to disable two factor authentication. I logged into my Apple ID page, there is no option there to disable it. I can see where it says it's enabled, and I can see where the disable option should be, but it's not there. No ad blocker running when I went there.

So I logged into my iPhone. I can see it's enabled, I can see where the option should be to disable it, but it's not there. Tried my iPad, same thing. Logged out of iCloud on everything, logged back in, still no option to disable.

As God is my witness, if I ever find a way to disable this, I will NEVER enable it again. So has anyone else experienced this issue? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

At the bottom of this document https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204915, updated 10 days ago, you'll see:
If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks.
I can confirm that an account where I'd been doing some troubleshooting by turning 2-factor on and off no longer has the option to turn off 2-factor.

I guess I can throw my Apple TV 2 in the garbage because it's impossible to log into now. Thanks Apple! It just works!

ETA: The forum may have yielded a solution. I will try it tomorrow and report back if Apple is redeemed or not!

Some of Apple's services (like using the HomePod) require 2FA, the day may come that it will be required for everything.

You just append the 2-factor code to the end of your password and devices that don't support 2-factor will be able to log in without issue.

My opinion only, but the best way to handle "2-factor authentication" is to never enable it in the first place!

Why do people fight tooth an nail against security policies like this? Companies literally have to make policies so employees won't use "password" as their password. I can hear you thinking "but this is my computer" and you're correct but you don't own the software to include the OS. When someone's iCloud gets hacked the headline won't be "Idiot who used "password" as his password and disabled all security is hacked", It'll be "Apple's iCloud gets hacked making experts question if Apple is losing their advantage when it comes to security"
