I'm trying to find a .ipsw file (iphone firmware) and I simply cannot find it anywhere, i put one on my desktop and i tried searching it in my finder and it did not show up either even though i knew it was on the desktop.

The reason why i am asking this is because I am trying to jailbreak my iphone and i created a .ipsw file and it even deducted like 500mb from my memory but i can't find it anywhere.

You can go here to download it if you cant find it - http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

But the thing is I created my own ipsw file for my to-be jailbroken iphone, and i can't find that file now. I've done it 3 times and each time it used up memory and i cannot find them, i already partitioned my drives so i don't like being down 1.5gb and with an ipsw file nowhere to be found.

Have you tried showing hidden files?

To show -

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder

To hide -

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder
