Cannot find the # key

What an fantastic forum! I've learned so much on here already, being a recent Mac 'convert'. I bought an iMac 20" and am loving it, loving Leopard and so glad I didn't go down the Vista route...

Anyway, I'm struggling to find the # key on the keyboard. I'm using a standard keyboard (I think) sold in the UK.

Any ideas how to get this symbol? (I had to cut and paste from an email to get it in the post before you ask!)

The keystroke you need is alt-2.

The hash stands for pounds avoirdupois in the US, hence it's the "Alt" to the pound Sterling. There is a certain logic to it.
