Cannot format new USB flash stick OSX - No Options

Hi all,

First time member and poster here. Hope everyone is well

I'm having trouble working out how to format a new USb stick drive. I normally use the simple Disk Utility in Mac but this time there is no option.

Please see the below screenshots: I don't seem to have an option in either tabs for "First Aid", "Erase", or "Partition".

Any thoughts please?

see if this can help : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2176?viewlocale=en_US

(you can use the Disk Utility of the Recovery partition if you are running Lion, ML or Mavericks).

if it's read only, get info on the drive in the finder and change the permission to read/write in the get info dialog window
