Cannot import AVI files in iTunes

Hi I was hoping that I could get some help here.

For some context...

I am in the UK and have been downloading Damages series (from iTunes) to watch on my commute to work on my iPhone.

Yesterday I went to complete the series only to find they have stopped it completely!!!! I need the last 4 episodes.

So... I torrented one. When I tried to add this to my iTunes library so I could sync it to my iPhone it wouldn't let me. Tried both the drag and drop and to add by the menu bar

Does anyone have any idea why it wouldn't? I would have thought that iTunes supported avis?? As you can see from my sig everything is up to date etc

to watch them u should have a program like Divx.. and maybe divx converter to convert them into mp4 or an itunes-approved format..

Itunes doesnt accept DIVX - incompatible.. nor does iPod/iPhone etc etc.
