Hello Everyone,
Ever since updating to iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan, I cannot import photos/videos from my iPhone to my Macbook Pro using either Photos, Image Capture or Preview. When connecting the iPhone via USB port, only a small portion of the photos will show/load, the rest will show as blank, then about a minute later the iPhone will disconnect itself. I cannot remember the exact point in time that this started happening, but I know it has been around the time I updated to iOS 9 on my iPhones and El Capitan on my Macbook Pro. This has also been the case with two iPhones. My current iPhone 6S Plus and previous iPhone 6.
I am currently using the iPhone 6S Plus on iOS 9.2 and a late 2013 Macbook Pro on OS X 10.11.2. I have searched and found many thread topics with people having trouble importing photos, not only from iPhones, but other USB devices/cameras. There seems to have been many temporary fixes that people have come across, and I have basically tried them all with no luck. Even though there have been many threads relating to the same issue I am having, I wanted to post this thread because others have seemed to die off, and I haven't been able to find a fix.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue that Apple is working on?
So far I have tried all of the following, which are all things that I could find through other threads:
- 3 different cables. 2 Apple cables and 1 MFI certified from dBrand.
- Both USB ports on my MBPr.
- Restarting Macbook and iPhone several times.
- Restarting iPhone while connected to Macbook.
- Having iTunes open while trying to import through Photos/Image Capture/Preview
- Deleting the plist preference file for Image Capture.
- Repairing Photos Library.
- Making sure iCloud photo settings are off.
- Making sure Dropbox is not set to import photos.
Also did a full restore to iOS 9.2 on my iPhone and a re-install of El Capitan on my Macbook.
Nothing has worked so far. Previously, this operation worked great for me. I could plug the iPhone in, import photos/videos without issue or disconnects. I currently have to transfer photos/videos to my mac via Airdrop. Even though this is currently working, I really want to get the normal import working, because there are times when I want to transfer photos to my mac without having to use/wait for a Wi-Fi connection.
Looking forward to everyones help!
Thanks!
Chris
