Well i dont have the Tiger CD anymore but i heard i can boot into single user mode and enable root?

i tried this but didnt work

/sbin/fsck -y
/sbin/mount -uw /
/sbin/SystemStarter
passwd root

is it different for tiger?

When you say you can't log onto the machine, do you mean there are errors or that you forgot your password?

See this article as well to see if it is of help.

forgot the password, i tried as described in the link but it didnt work. Is it different on Tiger?

this is what i tried along with your link.

/sbin/fsck -y (That command goes though)
/sbin/mount -uw / (That one too)
/sbin/SystemStarter (Says it cannot find boot strap something or another)
passwd root ( i type it hit enter and it just goes back to the CLI prompt without asking to enter a password. When i tried it on a Leopard Macbook it worked fine but not on the machine im trying to unlock.)

It worked on a leopard box without the /sbin part in the command line.
