Cannot move anything from folders to the desktop. Screenshots also fail.

When I try to move something from my personal file, or from documents folders or any folder for that matter, to the desktop, it will not move. It says "desktop cannot be modified." Cannot move pictures from iPhoto to the desktop, either.

Try these:
1. Reboot yet?
2. Check permissions on desktop from finder. Make sure you have read/write
3. Make another admin account, log on to that account, make the old user limited, then change it back to admin. Log off, then back in as old user.
4. Put finder prefs in trash, reboot.

I did try the reboot, but have not tried the others. I will do that now. Thanks for your help......

Thanks, Les! My desktop was checked for "locked". I just unchecked it, and everything is working fine. You have been a big help......
