Cannot move cursor with mouse but everything else works?

I can click, right click, scroll and the cursor will respond accordingly but I just can't get the cursor to move when I move my mouse. I currently have to rely on my trackpad... I tried unpairing and switching the mouse/mb on and off but nothing works.

I assume you have the Magic Mouse?! Remove the battery cover and carefully clean any dust/hair from the tracking lenses.

I just tried that and it still doesn't work.

Can you try another mouse? It's unlikely, but it sounds like the internals that track movement may be borked. Never ran across that myself (not on an optical mouse at least), but also never experienced your problem either.
