Cannot move tracks in itunes

Itunes suddenly and inexplicably won't let me move any of the tracks. At first it wouldn't let me reorder songs in a playlist. Now it won't let me copy tracks onto my ipod. I'm sure there is a simple explanation for this but I can't figure it out to save my life.
