Cannot open zip files from mac

I have not been able to open zipped files containing illustrator and indesign files from a mac computer to my windows xp comp. I have all the necessary software installed but whenever I try to extract the files I end up with a doc titled _MACOSX with nothing in it. Anybody?? Thx!
