Cannot partition my MBP on Mavericks

I'm trying to partition my MBP with Mavericks, dual booted with Windows 10. So far it has 2 partitions, 128GB each. I'm trying to shrink the OS X partition in Disk Utility by 30GB and make another partition out of that to install El Capitan on that partition. However, Disk Utility is stuck on "preparing to partition disk".

What should I do to fix this?
