Cannot Play Audio Files

I am havig problem playing audio files with my Mac G4, when I click on MP3 for example nothing happens But I can open Jpeg files.

Any advice or suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Which version of OS X?

Try repairing permissions in disk utility...have you restarted since the problem started?
