Cannot rearrange dock items...

I can add items to dock and remove fine.

I want move some items around.
It will not let me move any item around on the left of divider line on dock.

Am I missing a setting which locks items?

worked it out.

I had to quit a few apps as cannot move the item I wanted to move past an active app.
Quit the apps (so none have a dot under them) and I was able to move the item to far left next to finder where I wanted it.
Can then move any icon in any order I want, then just reopen the apps I had quit.

Thanks for posting the solution. I haven't had a chance to play with it, though I intended to.
