Cannot recharge Macbook (early 2008) unless...

the battery has been taken out and reinserted. The little LED on the charger will not turn on while it's plugged in but isn't charging.
I only have this problem if my Macbook has been running off of the battery for more than 7-8 hours and the battery percentage does not seem to make any difference.

It might be PRAM and SMC reset time. Apple's knowledge base is a Google search away.

Yup did both and of those and I still have the same problem. Forgot to mention that this happened right after my old charger died.

It could be the charger again or the DC-in. It probably needs a little more technical hands on than what can be provided here.
