cannot search for specific files on mounted NAS

i used to be able to open a finder window or the NAS drive and l cick on the search field in the window and do a search for a file and it would show me results, not i cannot do that.

The NAS needs to support that.

If it's a Synology check if Universal Search is active and it's index is ok.

it is a synology, and i think i did turn off universal search becasue it was freezing my NAS. i will turn it back on and see if that solves it. thanks

funny thing is i had universal search running, but it was not indexing anything.
