I (1) can’t see my trusted devices in Settings and (2) I’m being prompted to update my Apple ID Settings via Two-Factor Authentication to sign in to iCloud but the passcode I receive is rejected when entered.

I have an iOS update available, but I’m wary of proceeding with it and being locked out. I don’t know if my trusted devices being invisible means that they aren’t able to receive passcodes.

Help much appreciated.

All your devices that are signed into your Apple ID that is being used on that device should be listed at the bottom of Apple ID setting in Settings.

If you can’t see any of them, then the device you’re looking at is signed into a different Apple ID than your other devices. That would explain why you can’t log into your Apple ID — you’re likely entering the wrong info to log in.

Maybe log that device out from your Apple ID, then turn it on again using the ID info you remember.

Thanks, though I may not understand you. I only have the single ID. I’m sent a verification code which I then definitely enter correctly, but it returns a message stating it’s incorrect.

I’d hope that updating the OS might log me back in automatically or at least stop the mysterious error messages, but I’m not savvy enough to know if that would lock me out of my account altogether. At the moment, I’m only blocked from updates, backups and Apple Store purchases.

Maybe Screen Time Restrictions are turned on.

Go to: Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Disable the toggle: Content & Privacy Restrictions.

If you’re unauthorized to change the settings (passcode required) then the phone has been set up by someone else to prevent you from making any changes.

Thanks for the suggestions, but neither is the source of the problem. No one else has or had access and both malfunctions are only recent.

Are you clicking on the top banner for iCloud etc, when you open settings?
This should list at the bottom all your devices signed in.
Do you have any other devices, iPad, Mac etc.
Where are you receiving the 2 factor code.....on another device?
