Cannot send attachments, Mail + Gmail

For the past month or so I haven't been able to send any attachment of a size larger than 50kb through GMail but normal mail works fine. This problem isn't limited to Mail because it affects Thunderbird as well so I'm guessing it's not a problem with Mail but I don't know where else to post this. Attachments work fine if I go through the GMail web client and I haven't changed any settings.

Does anybody else have this problem or even better, know how to fix it?
