cannot send e-mails

iPhone 4S, has been working fine since I got it 3 months ago.
Suddenly last few days e-mail will not send, I get the following display;

Cannot Send Mail
The user name or password for "SMTP.(my e-mail add)@smtp.comcast.net is' incorrect.

Settings OK

I have changed nothing. I can still receive e-mail and since my phone is synced to my iMac all setting for e-mail on my iMac and phone are the same. And, there is no problem sending mail from the iMac.
Mail fails on both 3g and WI FI.

Any ideas anyone?

You may want to check with Comcast to see if they have changed or have alternate SMTP settings you can try and/or a different port. That's probably what the issue is.

Note though that the same settings are working on my iMac.
I wonder if the problem with the phone itself, thought I have not idea of what that could be.

Check the settings on your phone again. Make sure they are exactly the same. Try removing and then re-adding the mail account from iTunes when you sync it next.

Apparently the password became corrupted. I managed to find my password land now all seems well.
