cannot set keyboard shortcut for firefox

I am trying to set a keyboard shortcut for firefox and of course it is not working. I would like to set "EMail Link..." to shift-command-S. After I create the shortcut and try it I see the file menu flash making me believe that it knows what menu item needs to be launched but it never executes. I could be wrong in my assumption, yeah I know, don't assume. So any clue as what I need to do
