Hi,

can't really put my finger on when this started, but my 3GS running iOS4 (yes, you know what that means at this point of time) is unable to set a static IP.

When I enter the settings for my home Wifi, DHCP is selected and some IP leased (even though my router does not distribute IPs). I have tried to select "Static" and set my previous settings like a myriad of times and tried to exit in many different ways; but every time I go back to the network settings, DHCP is selected again.

Interesting facts:
- checking my router's log, it actually claims that the static IP (that I set) has joined the network, but it is probably lying - ping and arping fail.
- I can access local http servers, such as the router (well, of course, no DNS or gateway are required, if I enter the local ip directly in Safari)
- my router also logs GUI logins, so if I login from my iPhone, the log shows the leased DHCP ip (so I guess that's the real IP of the iPhone)

Any suggestions?
Because atm I basically cannot use my home Wifi on my iPhone (except local IPs)...

(Question on the side: What does "forget this network" actually do?)

And to be fair: this topic was also posted on XSellize
