Cannot sign in to MSN - Firewall

Hi all! I cannot seem to sign into MSN. Basically, I am able to sign in if I turn my router firewall off completely. Should I open a port in my firewall settings? How can I find out what MSN uses? Sorry, I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to macs.
