Hello, I recently installed an intel 40GB SSD and have replaced my optical drive with a caddy for my old hard drive (as I almost never need it, and when I do need it, an external works fine) and when I try to rename one of them, I cannot boot the SSD.

The old HDD still has OSX on it and can intermittently boot when one is changed. When I change one or more, the error I get when booting the SSD is that my user profile (the only present on the disk) cannot be found to log in.

Does anyone have any experience with this? i gave the SSD a rather poorly thought out name, and would like to change it.

found the issue!

turns out it was bc the home folder was on a different drive, and when you do that, you cant change the names of the home folder one bc the boot drive doesnt know wtf happened to it.

unlinking them then changing names works
