Cannot Sync Apps (iPhone 6)

I have tried using the lightning cable and wifi to sync my iPhone6 to iTunes, but my apps do not update. The icons all appear on my phone but they are "greyed" out and just say "waiting" below them. The only thing that works is deleting the app, then reinstalling from the app store. I did this for my most used apps, but cannot do that for all of them. Any solutions or just wait for 8.0.1?
