Cannot use speakers on 4s

I hit "play" on my iphone 4s and no sound is coming out and the volume slider is missing.

If I pug in headphones the slider appears and everything is fine.

If i dock it to my computer it to my computer it starts playing and the slider a appear, but it then and a few seconds it stops playing the music and the sider disappears!

Any help would be appreciated!!

Setting reset fixed it!

Update: This only solved this issue for a few hours. They then has me fully restore the phone and that still didnt fix it! Ended up needing to get a new device. Apple Store rep said that this issue is common.
