Cannot watch UK Channel 4 TV on Mac. Why?

I watch British TV via a VPN on my Macbook. BBC iPlayer works fine. ITV Player also works fine. Channel 4 4OD however does not open up (you go through all the selection process as with the other channels right up to the final click, but that is not followed by the whirly do-da. It appears to freeze). It does however work on a PC. Has anyone been through this and found a solution?
For your information I have Lion installed and normally use Chrome - although the same thing happens with other browsers. I have the latest version of Flash Player.

Hi there for all my live T.V watching on my computers I use http://tvcatchup.com/ its basically like free view on the internet and it works really well, you do need to create a free account but after that you can watch as much as you want. It does forces one 30 sec Ad when you begin watching a channel but thats the only down side.

There's your problem*, rather than the Mac.

4OD is fine. I also have Lion and the latest version of flash and it works great.

*making a couple of assumptions.
