The sidebar article from the trial contains an interesting story/headline:

The wife of back-from-the-dead canoeist John Darwin told a jury she wished her husband really had drowned.

What I never understood about the whole scheme was the small sum of money involved… hardly life-altering if you consider the whole picture.

Surely if you were going to creae this elaborate of a scheme… cause distress to your children etc etc you'd do it for a bigger sum than £250,000?

Maybe it just seemed like a good idea at the time?

Of course £250,000 might go a long way in Panama. Who knows.

Apparently they were facing bankruptcy, so indeed it would be a life altering sum in that case I suppose

think they paid £40,000 for an apartment in Panama and were looking at buying 500 acres for around £200,000 and turning it in to some eco-friendly resort with him giving canoeing lessons.

She should be sentenced at 2:00pm
