Obviously this will not be in the same price range as the 100-400mm that some people expect this will replace. I would hope Canon would offer both, given that the Nikon version is selling for $6800 at B&H and the Canon price with a built-in 1.4x extender will at least be in the same ballpark. (IIRC, the EF-100-400mm L is about $1600 street price.)
OBTW, they also officially announced the updated 600mm and 500mm F/4L IS II. (dpreview.com)
