Canon HF100 AVCHD compatible with iMovie?

How do I find out if the HF10/100 is compatible with iMovie? I currently have v6 and could upgrade to v8 if needed, but have read 6 is better than 8. Thanks.

Oh, and if I need iMovie 8 (which I suspect I do), can I somehow save the converted file to work in iMovie 6?

I can't speak from experience, but Apple lists the HF100 in this tech doc: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1014

I doubt it will be supported by iMovie '06, though because the camera is so new to the market. I read someone else who mentioned importing to '08, and then getting the *.mov to import into iMovie '06 I think...

Anyways, there are definitely things 06 can do (like audio ducking), that 08 cant, but I personally rarely need them. Overall, 08 is much faster for me from start to finish, and unlike 06, you dont have to import the files everytime, which is a huge time killer.
