Hi guys,

So I have been reading into the HF100 and all its capability on numerous sites and threads and am quite excited to use this camera to its full capability. I inherited it so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of quality and usability, but from what I've read this is quite the little camera.

This summer, I will be spending most of it with the hope of making a movie; not for sale or anything, but to post up on Vimeo and YouTube or what have you to show friends, family and anyone who is interested.

The movie itself will be that of the motocross variety (dirt bikes) and will not have a story or plot or anything, more just a typical action sports film with different clips and highlights of riders, well, riding!

I have played around with short little iMovie and WMM edits with my TX1, but now that I have a decent iMac (2.93 Duo 4GB RAM), FCE & the HF100, I would like to make something a little more sophisticated/professional/what have you.

SO, with that long winded intro out of the way, I need some help with specifics. I have tried my best to keep up with the vocabulary and terminology in threads such as the "Official HF100/10 Owners Thread" but for the most part I am lost.

I don't mind playing with the camera and changing settings and stuff for different shots (I'm trying to steer clear of one setting used for all shots and more towards different settings for different shots to get a better result) so I will throw you some scenarios that I would ask what would be the best way to shoot.

A majority of the shots will be of actual riding with some landscape shots/misc. shots in between. I have read that for fast moving objects are best to be shot at 60i. Is this true? When is it an advantage to use 30p, if there is one?

Filming will be done mainly in trails (forested, tall trees) so although it isn't dark, there isn't as much light as in other areas (think a nature hike), should this effect what I choose to shoot in? What are my options for the best picture?

Another shot I need help with is slow motion. I know the HF100 doesn't shoot in 60p, so what is the best way to film slow motion? What exactly does changing the shutter speed do? Does it effect how fluid and smooth playback is in slow motion?

Lastly I have is a Opteka fisheye I got off of Amazon for $30. I realize it's not top of the line, but it works none the less. Generally with fish eye lenses (or any add-on lens for that matter) is there anything required to change in terms of settings? For example, if I were to shoot a spot with optimized settings for that area, and then added the fish eye, is there anything else I should change to the settings? Or leave them how they are?

Once all the video is shot, what are the best settings to import into FCE? Anything I should do before using FCE to maximize quality during import?

A very long winded post, but thanks for reading/helping. I am still learning with all of this so I appreciate the support. Any other tips or tricks you think would help would be great. Thanks again!
