I have the canon HF200 and love it.

I just went down to the Apple store and looked at the ipad2. I'd love to be able
to connect the 2 using the camera usb and use the ipad as a monitor.
The guy at the store said I could connect the two for downloading footage but could not use the ipad as a monitor. Is this true? Sounds such a shame, does anyone know of a work around that will make this work?

Thanks

Better to buy a dedicated LCD video monitor. You'd have to mount the iPad somewhere, you'd need a hood for it etc. I admit it sounds like a great geeky thing to do, but when it comes down to it there's no easy way to do it technically and even if you could it's largely impractical.

Yes. Thanks. Makes total sense when you put it that way. Am trying to justify buying one. But as a monitor ...no.
Thanks.

Also, iMovie for iPad won't import/edit AVCHD video as from the HF200. It will only import video if it is stored in the DCIM folder, as videos from a digital still camera do. (Yeah, I was hoping to use my iPad as an ultra-light simple video editor, too.)
