A friend of mine just purchased a Canon HG10 hard drive based camcorder. He can not get the hard drive recognized by FCE using the firewire to usb connector.

Are there some issues or guidance any of you can provide?

I'm pretty sure you have to use just the USB cable and "log and transfer" because the camcorder is AVCHD based
