I just purchased a Canon Pixma iP4500 last Friday.

1) When a roller will run during printer head cleaning, I hear a squeaking sound on the right side. Any known cause or solution to this (e.g., lubricant).

2) That little panel above where the paper ejects (says Canon on the front). Is that supposed to be able to flip down?

In addition, does that panel not "lock in" tight? (e.g., sits a little loose)

Just want to know if this is normal or if I have a defective unit. Thanks.

Even though a year has gone by since your post I am hoping that you can still help me. I purchased a ip4500 from Amazon last week and when I set it up the "squeaking" noise was present. Received a replacement today and same noise is present. I can't decide whether or not to keep it. What did you do ? Hope that you can help me out. Thanks, Vic
