Canon LiDE 110 Scanner not recognized by macbook

Anyone have any experience out there with Canon scanners (particularly the LiDE 110) and the new MacBooks?

Image Capture does not recognize any devices when the scanner is connected (via Apple's USB-C's to USB connector).

I downloaded the appropriate driver from Canon's website, to no avail.

I remember when Macs were known for their ease of use when dealing with printers/scanners (plug and play).

I have not, but noticed that Image Capture doesn't recognize my Epson scanner (at least not over my wireless network - I don't bother with USB since I bought a wireless scanner specifically to avoid using USB). However, it works just fine using Epson's TWAIN software.
