So I see that Canon has a new scanner out and it says that it is OS X ready. Does anyone have any experience using this yet? I noticed that is says it is OS X ready, but that is through a special plugin in Photoshop 7. I am not planning on dropping 700 dollars for an image editor just to have scanning abilities. Does Photoshop Elements 2.0 have TWAIN ability?

Apple's Image Capture program that comes with Jaguar has Twain capability. Also http://www.hamrick.com/ makes a software called Vuescan that supports many scanners under Mac OS X.

Also GraphicConverter supports Twain:

I would add though that scanners are becoming obsolete with the advent of digital cameras. There is much better digital camera support under Mac OS X than scanner support. Just look at the iPhoto support pages on http://www.apple.com/iphoto/

we have one and...

we have one and it came with software.... but i can only get it to work in photoshop.... but it is an excellent scanner, fast and clear...

oh,yeah, i wound up having to manually drag some of the drivers into their folders to get it to work in 10.2:)
