Canon LiDE 500F with Intel Mac? Return it?

I just brought home a Canon LiDE 500F scanner from The Apple Store. They said it will work with my Intel Macs, but I have seen posts that it didn't used to and Canon's own site does not mention Intel compatibility.

Anybody know if they have fixed the driver?

Should I return it?

This driver was released on 8/8/06

There is nothing in the DMG to suggest that it will or won't work on your Intel Mac.
